This is the second investment program in the Pacific Ocean after Vanuatu, which showed in its own example of how foreign investment affects the country. Vanuatu has achieved prosperity through income from the Citizenship by Investment program and has issued over 4,000 passports over the years.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Solomon Islands sees the investment program as an opportunity to attract millions of dollars in revenue.
“The Government is undertaking due diligence and innovative investment program, that has potential to bring huge new revenue to our economy. This the new citizenship by investment program, where HNW individuals go through a very stringent process for citizenship by investment,” said Governor general David Vunagi.
Most likely, the cabinet will submit a bill to parliament later this month.
The Solomon Islands passport will allow the holder to visit Canada, the UK, the Schengen countries, Israel and 129 more countries and territories without a visa.
