Investing in Ireland's Golden Visa

The Irish Golden Visa Program was created in 2012. and is officially considered a program for immigrant investors (IIP). Despite the pandemic, it remains open for applications to attract more investment in the country. Applications can be submitted until June.

Some golden visa programs have been suspended due to COVID-19, but Ireland has decided not to follow suit.

The Irish Naturalization and Immigration Service (INIS) announced that, “From 2 April 2020 until 30 June 2020 the application windows as published on this website are suspended and applications for the Immigrant Investor Program may be submitted at any time during this period."

The service will only accept completed applications, but the documentation must necessarily be in the application. If necessary, documents must be certified or legalized by the relevant authorities.

After June, the applicant can send the application only for a limited period:

  • August 31, 2020 - September 4, 2020

  • October 26, 2020 - October 30, 2020

Investors are encouraged to submit applications over a specified period to take advantage of faster application processing. Processing time takes approximately 6 months.

The program for immigrant investors provides an opportunity for citizens outside the EEA to choose several options for investing in the country. After receiving a golden visa, a successful applicant can reside in Ireland for a certain period of time, and may work, study and open his/her own business in the country.
