If you look at the statistics of the pandemic, you can see that the health system of the Commonwealth of Dominica has not been affected. Not a single person died, but 16 recovered. However, for the country this is not an indicator to stop, but rather: it is an occasion to develop healthcare further. The Commonwealth of Dominica has decided to refurbish medical facilities with money from the Citizenship by Investment program.
Over the past three years, the Dominican government has made four major changes using the money received from foreign investors.
In addition to renovating old hospitals, a new hospital with 75 beds is being built in the Marigot district. Construction is supported by the Citizenship for Dominica investment program, but Mexico will provide money for equipment (US$5 million).
“Usually, in the circumstances after natural disasters, we would have health problems, be it waterborne illnesses or other forms of illness. We have never seen this in Dominica because of the efficiency and reliability of our healthcare system, ” explained Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
